Palestine-Israel: The never ending struggle to block the advance of the Zionist settler colonialist project*

Arkib, Bil'in, Ma'asara, Nabi Saleh, Ni'ilin, Qaddum, South of Hebron Hills, Sheikh Jarrah, Jaffa-Tel-Aviv

The last dozen days the Israeli PR machine harp on the lot of the kidnapped three young settlers to justify its efforts to prolong the intense pressure on the Palestinians to "willful" transfer. They pretend to use the kidnapped youth to Cripple Hamas - They really use both in a desperate effort to ignite the third intifada. Bringing 700 soldiers to the less than 2000 inhabited small village Na'ama (bordering Bil'in) to arrest two Hamas activists is just a ridiculous story no one will believe. As the efforts to ignite the third Intifada failed, and the obstruction of the compromise between Hamas and Fatah failed too (one of the most important pillars of the Israel divide and rule), the immanent pressure of world imperial power on Israel to end the occupation of 1967 war is nearing faster than ever. The joint struggle of the Israeli radicals together with Palestinian partners keep the subject in the center of world media.

Bil'in

Weekly Friday Demo 13/6/2014 Today in the village of Bil'in, residents (accompanied by Israeli and international solidarity activists) marched in solidarity with the hunger striking political prisoners. Marchers held posters with images of prisoners, and some wore prison uniforms, calling for the release of prisoners, and an end to the Israeli occupation. Three Palestinian journalist were injured today at the weekly demonstration in Bil'in against the wall and the settlements. One was taken to hospital. Three more journalists escaped being hit by rubber bullets thanks to their bulletproof vests. Soldiers fired tear gas and rubber coated bullets directly at a group of clearly marked journalists, in addition to shooting at the 80 or demonstrators marching to the wall.
several demonstrators were dressed in an Israeli prison uniform, in solidarity with the prisoners on hunger strike.

Don't Say We Didn't Know 412

The Israeli army has been trying for years now to prevent Palestinians from attending schools in the Kitun neighborhood of Hebron. In 2011, at the beginning of the school year, the army installed a metal-detector at Checkpoint 29, on the way to three schools. Consequently, teachers and pupils held their classes on the roadside, before reaching the checkpoint. Three days later soldiers fired teargas canisters at the school children. Since then, the pupils and teachers pass through the metal-detector.

Soldiers fire teargas and stun grenades at pupils as they walk along the street, at times in response to children's stone-throwing, and at others, with no provocation at all.

On May 5, 2014, soldiers fired two stun grenades at children on their way to school. In response, children threw stones at them. Then the soldiers resorted to firing teargas at the children.

On May 25, 2014, three soldiers ran towards children standing at the entrance to their school house. Some children threw stones at the soldiers, who then fired a stun grenade and two teargas canisters at the children.

On May 27, 2014, as the children were on their way from school, soldiers detained a boy and five teachers for 20 minutes.

--------------------------

Don't say we did not know 413

On Monday, 26th May, 2014, Imad Shukri Salem, a Palestinian fisherman who worked fishing from the northern beach of the Gaza Strip, three hundred meters from the Israeli border, was shot and badly injured by fire coming from Israeli soldiers. On Sunday, 5th June, 2014, he died from his wounds.

Criminals

The Bedouin citizens of Israel have committed a terrible crime: They were born Bedouin in a Jewish state!

How do I know this? Very simple, the State of Israel has established a police unit whose only task is to fight against its Bedouin citizens. It is called the "Yoav Unit" and it is a part of the Israel police. As of now 150 policemen serve in this unit and the goal is to reach a force of 400. They engage in home demolitions, crop destruction and the demolition of Bedouin villages. This war of the State of Israel against its Bedouin citizens did not begin in recent years. It goes back to the very establishment of the state. Like the rest of the Palestinians who lived in the country before 1948, most of the Bedouin were expelled-fled during the war. What is less well known is that after the end of the war the State of Israel continued its war against its Bedouin citizens. Bedouin continued to be expelled from the country for another 10 years after the cessation of the fighting. Alongside the expulsions, the state concentrated the remaining Bedouin in the Sayag area of the Negev (North-east of the Negev) while implementing a huge land grab. This is the way the problem of internal refugees was created, not in the heat of battle, but as a consequence of a unilateral war conducted by the Israeli government against the Bedouin citizens of the state.

But even this was not enough. At the end of the 1960s the government began its policy of concentrating the Bedouin population in townships, once again creating internal refugees in its unilateral war against Bedouin citizens. And thus it is that as of today the state has succeeded in concentrating about half of the Bedouin in the Negev in separate townships that were established specifically for them.

There remains one small problem, most of the Bedouin don't "understand" that the state only "wants their welfare" – so to help them understand, the state demolishes their homes, destroys their crops, limits their pasture area, and denies them running water, electricity and municipal services. If this doesn't help, it destroys entire villages. The point is to get them to give up their lands, villages and homes and to "agree" to move to the townships. These townships, of course, suffer discrimination in planning and budgets and soon become centers of poverty, unemployment and crime.

Most of the time when I talk to Jewish citizens of Israel about the situation of the Bedouin citizens of Israel, I hear about Bedouin crime, illegal building and the takeover of state lands, and I am shocked again and again at how the state has succeeded in distorting the picture so that the robbed have become the robbers, the victims the criminals. And then I notice that there are no reports in the Hebrew media that in the year 2011 the Israeli government demolished more than 1000 Bedouin homes. There are no reports about the demolition of hundreds of homes a year. The media is silent when the State of Israel forces Bedouin citizens to demolish their own homes. And there is silence once again in the face of the destruction of thousands of dunams of crops each year. No one told us about the legislation by means of which the state has stolen most of the Bedouin lands. It has never been explained to us how laws are implemented in a racist way to deny Bedouins the possibility of building their homes legally.

In most cases when I come across reports in the Hebrew media about the state's war against the Bedouin, it seems that the Bedouin are the criminals who are causing damage to the state.

Now, when the Israeli government, with the aid of the "Yoav Unit", has crossed a red line in its war against those stubborn Bedouin from the Abu-Amdiam family, who insist on living on their lands in the village of El-Araqib, and has invaded the cemetery complex of the village and destroyed all the buildings (except the mosque), we are told that this is simply the enforcement of the law. And in truth, those who are fighting against the Bedouin have also legislated land laws that allow them to rob Bedouin lands. They have also created legal ways of ignoring traditional Bedouin land ownership, even when the latter have documents proving their ownership. It may all be legal, but it's neither just nor ethical. The Nurnberg laws in Nazi Germany, the apartheid laws in South Africa, and the racial laws in the U.S. South were legal too. They all had one problem, they were immoral.

Tel Aviv - Jaffa

Solidarity with the Palestinian Political Prisoners, Yafa Clock Tower Square:
Jaffa-based activists (with other activists of greater Tel Aviv - Palestinians mainly but many Jews too) staged a vigil this evening, showing solidarity with the hunger striking Palestinian political prisoners. Demonstrators stood at clock tower square at the historic city center, calling for the release of prisoners and abolishing administrative detention.

Tel Aviv

A call for a demo:
"Say no to collective punishment, free all political prisoners.
Saturday, 21.6, 20:30, in front of the Kyria military base in Tel Aviv.
The army, under government instructions commits hundreds of arrests, nightly house raids, closure, arrests of journalists and Palestinian parliament members, collective punishment of the residents of Hebron, Nablus, Bethlehem, Jenin and many other places, child arrests, threats of electricity and phone networks cut offs, and more. All of those are not really done in order to locate the boys, plenty of shootings and few murders too...
The hope that the "boys" (two near army recruiting age and one older) will be found and safely returned home. In practice, though, Netanyahu and his government are cynically using the event for a out front attack and bluntly state that they shall continue with the same tactics disregarding the current pursuit.

For the Israeli government this is merely an excuse to crack down Hamas, and break the Palestinian unity agreement.

The military budget faced cutbacks and now it's quite obvious that it should be raised again.

We shall gather in order to call for an end to the daily violence and killing. Enough with abuse and collective punishment of a civil population living under military occupation."

Saturday, 21.6, 20:30, in front of the Kyria military base in Tel Aviv (Kaplan street).
The demonstration is imitated by activists for various organizations.
We call upon organizations and movements to join and add their names to the invitation. Every day that goes by, is one day too many, of silence

Palestine-Israel, The (joint) struggle and the changes in the international arena start a new power struggle within the Israeli ruling elite*

The Palestinian non armed struggle interwove with the change in the region and world power dynamics to which popular opinion in the western countries contribute its share. The first significant successes of the B.D.S. (to which the joint struggle contribute) and the fear of parts of the Israeli capitalist elite from a nearing land slide threaten the status quo. Though the efforts to transfer Palestinians within Israel and the occupied 1967 regions continue, the results of the mounting international pressures, result in cracks within the Israeli capitalist ruling elite. The pressures for a two states compromise was expressed in the call of nearly half of the parliament coalition of the government to chart the map of the two state compromise. Even from the extreme right faction there was issued a call for end in the pressures on the Palestinians to "voluntary transfer" and to formally annex the occupied areas of the west bank into a one Zionist hegemony state with citizen rights to the Palestinians.

Al Arakib

The Israeli authorities want to expel the remaining residents of the Bedouin village of Al Arakib. They have planned the evacuation to take place during the Mondiale when all eyes will be centered on Brazil. They think this will prevent any effective protest that the criminal eviction of Bedouin from their homes and land will arouse. Let's prove them wrong! Help us by signing the appended petition and distributing it as widely as possible. Please paste it to your facebook wall and your twitter account as well

Bil'in

In the last Friday of May, nine Israelis and about 20 internationals Joined the Bil'iners activists in the weekly demonstration against the separation wall, the settlers, and occupation on Friday 30.5.14.

Friday 6.6.14 About dozen Israelis with the anarchists against the wall and a delegate of internationals joined the Bil'iners in another demo against the separation wall and occupation.
The state forces targeted the Palestinian photographers in an unusual ferocity. An unusual activity of theirs was the dispatching of a small unite to the demo area prior to the demo to hide in an ambush in order to catch stone throwing youth. So it is now no more riddle why the Israeli state forces taken the measure of erasing the pictures taking by the demonstrators in Bil'in. It was not just to erase the shame of the failed ambush. In few of the pictures soldiers are seen collecting the the Canvas pieces used to hide the soldiers of the ambush.
A wheel-chaired photographer Rani Bornat was attacked today by Israeli solders. They hit him and confiscated his camera and deleted many photos from it before giving it back.

Khalet Ennahla (South Bethlehem)

Today (31.5.14) 6 Israelis with the anarchists against the wall, and few international activists participated today in action organized by South West Bank Popular Resistance Committee in Khalet Ennahla locality to the south of Bethlehem. The main goal of the protest was to reach the endangered land and erect a tent for the land owners where an Israeli occupation outpost is illegally built on that area just few meters far from the targeted area. Once we arrived to the location Israeli occupation forces blocked the way leading to the land, intercepted us, attacked us and prevented us from reaching the targeted area and tried to arrest Yousef Abu Maria and Younes Arar. But we insisted to stay and reach that land. Finally we succeeded to reach the area, erected our tent just opposite to the colonial outpost inhabited by 6 terrorist colonists who are very well guarded and looked after by fascist Israeli occupation forces. Palestinian land owners in that area are not allowed to reach their own land, not allowed to cultivate it, not allowed to dig a water well, not allowed to stay there, while the terrorist colonists living in that area have the free will to freely move, cultivate the land stolen at gunpoint from the Palestinian farmers and have the necessary infrastructure (Water and electricity networks). Our activity aims to support the Palestinian farmers steadfastness on their land, to shed more light on their daily life misery, to encourage other Palestinian farmers to come and cultivate their land in spite of the Israeli occupation forces and terrorist colonists attacks and to encourage Palestinian and international NGOs to support these farmers by helping them rehabilitate their land, cultivate it and to provide them with all means of survival.

Friday 30/05/2014 Palestinians, accompanied by Israeli and international solidarity activists, marched today in Nabi Saleh in support of the hunger striking political prisoners, over 60 of whom are currently hospitalized and in severe mortal danger. The march demanded for their immediate release and chanted in support of their steadfastness, asking to preserve their human dignity and to respect Palestinians rights. Once we arrived at the entrance of the village, the Israeli Occupation Forces - in an attempt to suppress the demonstration, attacked the march with tear gas and rubber bullets. They injured a lot and dozens suffered of sever suffocation, but no major injuries reported. There also has been damage to public and private property. The shebab answered to such violence by throwing stones and managed to chase away the Israeli Occupation Forces who entered the village. The confrontations continued becoming gradually more and more intense and for a while the IOF have closed the gate at the entrance of the village not letting anyone get in or leave.

South of Hebron Hills

This coming Saturday, May 31, we will be heading again to our activity in several locations in the area, accompany Palestinian farmers and shepherds to their lands and help them stand up for their rights.
Without the presence of activists, many farmers don't get the chance to cultivate their land. There is a direct link between the number of activists who come to accompany the farmers and their ability to live a relatively normal life.

Tel Aviv

Thursday, another joint vigil against the intended mandatory service of Israeli Palestinians (Christian and Druze) in the Israeli army.
"front of the Kirya (Israeli Ministry of Defense) in Tel-Aviv against the repeated attempts of the Israeli government to conscript Palestinian youth to the state's army, IDF. The government tries to demand from the Palestinian citizen of Israel to fight for it, or even to serve it as "National Service", but at the same time never treats him as an equal citizen. The state defines itself as a "Jewish State", its symbols and flags are Zionist, but from the Palestinian citizen, who suffers from discrimination and is not even represented in the flag and anthem, the state has the audacity to demand fighting for it. Today Bedouins and Druze are conscripted into the IDF, and so are some of the Christian Palestinians, and the government plots for some time to enact "National Service" in the future on Palestinian Muslims as well."
