Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle and the delusional naZionists*

In spite of increasing world wide political and economic (B.D.S) pressure, the Israeli state increase its efforts to transfer Palestinians - both within the 1948 borders and the 1967 ones. The efforts to transfer Palestinians from area C of the west bank is done with the help of the colonialist settlers terror to which and to the state efforts Israeli activists join the Palestinians to resist or even sabotage. The Israeli media report again and again on the third Intifada that gradually intensify, the warning of generals that the present refusal of state to yield is dangerous. The social ferment and buds of struggle do not give in to the drums of war. In the popular weekend struggles in Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Nebi Saleh, and Qaddum the state forces repression is not consistent. Some time the repression is milder and some times it is harsher and we still could not decipher the pattern.

Bil'in

This week the state forces were not so belligerent as the week before. They "allowed" to come near the wall. They even let us march along the wall in the forbidden path between the barbered wire fences... Only when we reached the main gate in the wall and tried to take a gate of the barbed fence they started to shoot tear gas. When it became too much most of us returned to the village.

Link below to a picture: It was not painted in oil colors or even painted by an artist accustomed to drawing. It's a realistic picture of the weekly demonstration in Bil'in which continues to confirm the existence of the Palestinian steadfast fighting for home and refusing all kinds of injustice.

Qaddom

"Hello everyone,

Friday confrontations in Qaddom is escalating in recent weeks in a way that is beyond any previous "norm". Rampant military invasion of the village before the demonstration and during it as if possessed. It is the second week of army thugs occupation the village early morning entering long before the demonstration starts and makes havocs. Shoots in all directions into the houses, the mosque and the village center. Then returns to its camps or like today just lurk near by waiting to the demonstration to start just after the service.
In today demo marched more than two hundred fifty Palestinians, five Israelis and a similar number of international supporters. Even before we reached it the entrance from Khaja was already blocked with barricades set by the Shabab as precaution from of attack by the army from this direction as it did a few weeks ago (after its morning "visit" in the village.
The army entered the village and fired from two centers in the front of the village but much deeper than the position of the blocked road and the left side of the hill. They shot a plenty of a strengthed quantity gas - so terrible that a few people suffocated from gas inhalation.
During the demonstration, they arrested two Palestinian television media man. Suddenly, in the middle of the demonstration they began shooting a massive barrage of "rubber bullets" (do not forget these are really steel bullets coated with rubber).
From this "toy" of theirs four Palestinians were wounded: one injured in his finger nearly completely severed it - he was rushed to the hospital to save the finger; another was injured in his arm and stomach; another was wounded in the chest; and another "only" in the leg.
Then the army entered again the center of the village and covered it with a cloud of gas - literally nowhere to escape. It was so intense and without any restraint.
So much so that even though I'm a Jewish female they invited me to find refuge in the mosque..."

Hi all, there will be a demo in this Saturday. if you can make it please let me know.

Challenging the Checkpoints Regime

Palestinians, accompanied by Israeli and international solidarity activists, marched to the Tunnels checkpoint near Beit Jala and demanded to be let through in order to go to Jerusalem and pray at al-Aqsa. A large reenforcement of soldiers quickly arrived at the scene and blocked marchers, hurling abuse at them and shoving the Palestinians, claiming they cannot be allowed through on foot and without the appropriate permits. The Palestinians staged a prayer near the checkpoint, eventually peacefully leaving the scene, vowing to make further attempts until they achieve their goal, get to Jerusalem and eventually do away with the occupation. A few military jeeps followed the activists as they moved away, but no arrests were made. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.384119631707737.1073741876.202358256550543

Thursday, few dozen activists, mainly of the "Not Nice" initiative converged in the center of the affluent neighborhood of the treasury minister. After a while we started to march in the street towards his home holding placards, banners, and torches - stopping for a while in each intersection. (All the way the police was busy in stopping the traffic that might collide with the demo. When we reached his home we converged there on the blocked street for a long while. After a long while the activists marched back to the center where they met the nearly bank-rot tycoon Ben-Dov and "communicated" with him in the shop he visited and later accompanied him for a while.

Palestine-Israel, Ten years of a persistent joint struggle educate Israeli social struggle activists*

On February 1968 The antiauthoritarian anticapitalist Matzpen initiated in Jerusalem the first (18 strong) vigil again 1967 occupation. Two years later, the Israeli Black Panthers activist who were in intimate contact with Matzpen members (mostly in Jerusalem) initiated the first social struggle of immigrants from eastern countries. Many of the present social struggle activists regards themselves as successors of the Panthers - many others were in association with or participated in the joint struggle of the anarchists against the wall. The 2013 wave is still much smaller than the 2011 wave of struggle but is more radical and confrontational. The joint popular struggle in the occupied Palestinian west bank is still fluctuating - mainly because the holding back of the Palestinian authority.

Bil'in

These last few Fridays in Bil'in

Over the last month or so, things have been escalating in Bil'in. Until a few weeks ago, two soldiers teams made to play sitting ducks over the wall in few points were the only reachable targets for the few shabab, who joined the non armed demonstration or preceding it a bit. The soldiers shot gas at demonstrators from behind the wall - some times in response to the thrown stones, some times even before the first stone was thrown. But for the last month or so, possibly due to an Israeli campaign to escalate the violence (using media outreach, lobbying and counter-demos), the army has been crossing the wall to chase demonstrators away, leading to more violent confrontations. Since the gas is usually enough to get most demonstrators to back off, it eventually continue with a prolonged confrontation of a dozen of shabab trying to stone away a dozen or so heavily armed soldiers.

This week, instead of waiting for us behind the wall, the soldiers had already been stationed half way between the wall and the built area of the village. The road that the demonstrators usually take was blocked, so they took a detour to reach the gate from another path despite fierce gas and bullet showers. One demonstrator was arrested when he helped a few internationals maneuver through the clouds gas. The demonstrator told the group to cross the route where the soldiers were stationed, and one of the policemen, who does not understand Arabic, decided that he was ordering them to throw stones. The demonstrator was released when the demo was over. In the meantime, soldiers kept pushing in, spraying rubber bullets at the shabab who were trying to make them turn back. That none of the bullets hit their target was a pure "accident".

Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle in a world that will never be the same again*

The patient of the people who see the turmoil in the region loosing the patient but it is still far from a general rising both in the Israeli social struggle and in the occupied west bank. The Israeli state increase the threats of the activists on both sides and contemplating in public to qualitatively enhance the shooting policy. Meanwhile, targeting the young kids they started to arrest 7/8 years old too. The third intifada is gradually escalate from non violent struggle to still unarmed but a stone throwing one. The kids are throwing back tear gas canisters and the state forces are often testing their own medicine. In Israel, the activists of the social struggle are not yet many, but the marching is not just parade any more and the homes of the relevant ministers get frequent visits. It is still not sure if the masses will participate again as two years ago, but it may come sooner than later as the austerity measures are already felt.

In spite few old spent tear gas canisters thrown to the soldiers nothing was done by them more than threatening aiming of guns. Afterwards, the state force became active. They start with shooting tear gas, added opening the gate and started to pursue the scattered demonstrators.
Gradually most of the participant returned to the village - leaving behind few energetic youngster.

Two arrested in Nabi Saleh weekly protest
Posted on: June 7, 2013 |
7th June 2013 | International Solidarity Movement, Ramallah Team | Nabi Saleh, Occupied Palestine

Today’s weekly protest in Nabi Saleh was met with skunk water and rubber coated steel bullets. In addition, two people, one of them a child, were arrested.

After midday prayer, around sixty Palestinians, together with Israeli and international activists, marched as usual from the center of the village towards the stolen spring across the main road.

Demonstrators marching along the road towards the spring (Photo by ISM)

As protesters were building stone barricades along the road to prevent Israeli forces from invading the village, a skunk water truck and two jeeps appeared at the scene. The truck ran over the barricades and drove along the road spraying demonstrators with foul smelling water. Israeli soldiers and border police officers shot several rounds of rubber coated steel bullets injuring one protesters in the right side of the abdomen. After a while, Israeli forces and the truck retreated and protesters took over the road again. As confrontations between Palestinian youths and Israeli forces continued, three jeeps and the skunk water truck chased the protesters up the road spraying the houses and people.

At around 2:30pm, the bulk of the protesters left the area except for a few Palestinian youths who were still on the hilltop throwing stones. Suddenly, when people were resting at the petrol station, four army and border police jeeps joined by the skunk water truck, invaded the village once again and sprayed everything in their way. One adult and one child from the nearby village of Deir Netham, Tamim (19) and Mo’men (16) Tamimi were arrested and taken into the jeeps. They remain under arrest until now.

He was time and time again shot directly at during peaceful demonstrations. Only two weeks before being assassinated he sustained injuries after having been hit in the face with a tear gas canister.
On the 5th of June 2009, Aqil was shot in the heart with a 0.22 caliber bullet, a kind of ammunition considered illegal under international law, while he was trying to rescue a 16 year old boy named Muhammed Mousa. Muhammed had been shot in the stomach by the same kind of ammunition and when Aqil reached the passed out boy he was shot by a sniper from the Israeli border police. Aqil died before reaching the hospital, not much more than two months after his release from Ofer military jail...."

Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle on the background of the world turmoil.

For already more than two years the rebellion against the sharp intensifying of the global neo-liberalism is fermenting. The struggle against the local processes is overcoming the efforts of the local elite to use intensifying conflicts with the Palestinians to "soften the resistance". The more dramatic wave of two years ago passed but not without a permanent ferment that just wait for a local or international trigger. There are very few who persisted in the Israeli anarchists against the wall initiative all the 10 years of struggle, but new activists take the place of those who lost the energy and will to continue in the same activity level - or just left the country. The weekly persistent demos in Bil'in, Ma'asara, Ni'ilin, Nabi Saleh, Qaddum, and Sheikh Jarah hold the flag high. This week uprising in Turkey is only the the freshest one of the new mode.

Friday 31/05/2013. Activist report around 70 teargas canisters have been shot by Israeli occupation forces at homes and civilians before the demonstration has even started. IOF have also blocked main road to Nabi Saleh in an attempt to prevent solidarity activists entering the village.
Demonstrators from the Ramallah-district village of Nabi Saleh, joined by Israeli and international activists, attempted to march towards 'Ayn al-Qaws, a spring expropriated by the nearby settlement of Halamish. Even before the demonstration started, IOF soldiers already advanced, invaded the village and randomly fired tear gas canisters. During the demonstration, the IOF attacked the marchers with massive barrages of tear gas canisters, rubber bullets and putrid skunk water even though not even one stone was hurled. A Palestinian youth was injured from rubber-coated steel bullets and dozens suffocated from tear gas.
