Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle continue along with the mounting tension for the nearing post-election earth quack*

The tactic of tent(s) building direct actions continue with internationals but Israelis only as media and support part. The harsh escalation of suppression expressed more in house demolition than in direct actions clashes, but even in the Friday demos we experience an escalation of harassment of the state forces. Both in Israel Media and the public arena the mounting international pressure and the stubborn refusal of the ruling elite to yield bring the aura of an imminent disaster. The cracks within the ruling elite expand and threaten the efforts to invest increasing part of the national product in the settler colonialist project while recruiting the support of the organized orthodox Jewish parties by increasing benefits to their communities.

South West Bank

Beit Ommar

Call for participation in direct action: South West Bank Committee
We are the sons and daughters of Canaanites will establish Canaan Village (Canaan) on endangered Canaanite Palestinian land. We declare that it is our natural right to develop, reclaim, improve, use, and live on all our lands free and without threats from occupiers/colonizers. Beginning Saturday 9 February, we will have several days of direct work to help farmers in the South West Bank reclaim and improve their agricultural lands.
We call on people of conscience and media to join us as we work our lands and thus defend it against attempts by foreign colonizers to usurp it.
If interested to help, meet us at Bab Zqaq in Bethlehem at 7 AM Saturday when we will move to the location/s of the work.

South West Bank committee against settlement and apartheid wall

South West region Today, the South West Popular Committee along with international activists embarked on a new effort to establish a village, Canaan, on Palestinian land in South Hebron Hills. The village's name was not accidental. We wanted to declare that we are the indigenous people of Palestine. We are the descendants of the Canaanites and our ties to the land can never be broken or taken away. Early last night, various Palestinian activists from a wide array of villages in the South West Bank area along with international activists met in a home to discuss plans for the coming day. Signs were prepared which stated 'Our Land is Our Right', 'Canaan Village' and a declaration of intent which stated that "we are the sons and daughters of the Cananites, we establish Canaan Village on endangered Palestinian land." "We declare that it is our natural right to develop, reclaim, improve, use and live on all our lands free and without threat from occupiers/colonizers."

South West Bank Committee have organized a protest today 8/2/2013 to open the road connects Hebron with southern villages; hundreds of Palestinians have participated in this protest. This road was blocked by the Israeli occupation forces 10 years ago depriving 10s of thousands of Palestinians from using this main road as part of the Israeli occupation movement restriction movement imposed on Palestinians. Protesters chanted slogans against Israeli apartheid, in addition to slogans asking for the freedom of movement, and slogans calling for the release of Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli occupation jails. The protest was suppressed violently by the Israeli occupation forces.

Feb. 9, 2013: In the early morning hours, following a night of planning, we established Canaan as our first attempt, in the south of Yatta (the entrance to Twani). Within less than a minute, while we barely managed to establish the tent, an occupation jeep arrived. The occupation soldiers encircled us and told us we must leave. We refused to obey such a racist demand. An officer of the occupation army then went on to demolish our tent, steal our additional tents and equipment and violently prevent us from reclaiming our land and our belongings. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=501047813270234

Several hours later, we went on with a much larger group of activists, international supporters and an especially large number of journalists, to the east Yatta, near Ein Mai'in, Hazawai, we established a large tent and began building a room from stones of the land. Within half an hour, we were heavily encircled by at least 6 jeeps of the occupation forces. A large military vehicle which fires skunk water was brought in. We were told that we have 10 minuets to leave the area and that the land was a 'closed military zone'. We did not yield of course and were immediately showered upon by heavy skunk water. Occupation soldiers then went on to attack journalists and arrest them. They beat an elderly woman and other activists. In several instances, activists jumped in and prevented with their bodies the arrest of two people. After several hours of struggling with the occupation soldiers which numbered more than 50, 4 journalists, 8 Palestinians and 2 international activists were arrested, our tent was destroyed and we were prevented from returning to our land. For many hours during the hot afternoon, hundreds of activists remained in the area and demanded the right to return to the Canaan Village.

Bilin

This Friday in Bil'in: (Feb. 8, 416th weekly demonstration)
"There seems to be a tendency to escalation from the side of the army recently. Last week the soldiers started shooting gas from the moment the first cars could be seen nearing the demonstration area, perhaps because the rain made them eager to finish things early. This week gas was shot in high quantities and directly at people. The army slowed down the gas showers only after most peaceful demonstrators had been forced back, and the shabab took over with their stones covered by a favorable wind (as we know, stone throwers are a lesser threat to the army than people chanting slogans). When the shabab decided to head home, soldiered crossed the wall with the skunk truck, but didn't manage to provoke the shabab to return. The presence of Ashraf, who had been arrested in Burin last week, was greatly missed."

Activists on the ground report that Israeli Occupation Forces have been firing non-stop teargas, rubber bullets and skunk. At least 4 people have been hit by rubber bullets and 2 with teargas canisters and many people overcome by the teargas.

Activists on the ground in Nabi Saleh are reporting that dozens of IOF entered the village for at least 30-40 minutes and have now withdrawn. While in village, the IOF fired lots of teargas, stun grenades, rubber bullets and skunk. Reports of journalists deliberately being targeted by IOF with teargas and stun grenades. Skunk also fired directly at houses. Reports of at least 10 people injured by rubber coated steel bullets and at least 2 by teargas canisters, including one hand injury as a result.

"Quite shaken after the last round of shooting in Nabi Saleh. The soldiers invaded the village, spraying skunk water, shooting rubber bullets, sound bombs and gas in every direction. We ran to hide inside a house, and they tried shooting several sound bombs into it, shaking the house, and those inside it."

Tel Aviv - Jaffa

Samer al-Issawi is a Palestinian political prisoner from 'Issawiyeh (Jerusalem), who has been on a hunger strike in Israel's prison for 202 days. Although released in a prisoner-swap deal in October 2011, Israel re-arrested Samer claiming he violated the terms of his release by leaving Jerusalem even though the place of his arrest was Hizmeh, which is within the Jerusalem municipal boundaries. Samer has been hunger striking since July 29, 2012, and according to recent reports his health has been fast deteriorating, putting his life in danger. Joining solidarity demonstrations in Palestine and all over the world, a group of Jaffa-based activists began a daily vigil in solidarity with Samer 'Issawi and all political prisoners at clock tower square, a famed local landmark. Protesters, both Palestinian and Jews, attended the second vigil, calling for the release of 'Issawi and all political prisoners, as well as putting an end to administrative detention as an illegal punitive measure by the state.

On Monday, 26th January, 2013, before sunrise, staff from the Israel National Parks Authority arrived with Municipality of Jerusalem workmen to Wadi Rababa in Silwan. They were escorted by Border Police, regular police, the dog unit and bulldozers. They broke into privately owned land and started demolishing fences, terraces, sheds and storerooms, and caused damage to ancient olive trees. They undertook work for the creation of a National Park that had been announced in the area.

During the activity they made their dogs attack Palestinians protesting the robbery of their land and damage to their property. Some were injured and some arrested.

Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle compete in the news media with the intensifying of repression and transfer*

Though the imperial powers tolerance for the Israeli repression and transfer diminish, Israel mainly respond with uneasy disregard. The world as large and even us within are waiting to see if there really was a shift in the blanc of power within the Israeli ruling elite and if the political turbulence in the region will contribute to any improvement in the Palestine-Israeli struggle. It is not clear if the intensification of Israeli transfer and repression efforts are just the last spasm of a dead end or a more desperate line of disregard of reality. In a month or two the picture may clear and till then, the old Tsumud (persistence) will continue. The intensification of the activities of the higher comity of grass root popular comities - mainly in the weekly "tent villages projects" started in Bab Al-Shams may be more than just an expression of optimism.

Al-Manatir

Activists build a new village #Almanatir near Burin, Feb. 2, 2013
PRESS RELEASE: Hundreds of Palestinians build huts on lands of Burin village (Nablus District): http://on.fb.me/UcOxOe
In January, Palestinian activists started a new wave of tented protest camps in the West Bank. The first, the Bab al-Shams village was set up in an area where Israel plans to build the "E1" settlement, severing the West Bank from Jerusalem.
Then, locals established the al-Karamah (Dignity) village in Beit Iksa, northwest of Jerusalem, which is set to be tightly encircled by Israel's separation wall.
Last week, activists set up the Al-Asra, or prisoners, protest village in the village of Anin, northwest of Jenin.
On Saturday, they erected a new tented protest village south of Nablus, the fourth such initiative in recent weeks.
Around 200 supporters from across the West Bank set up tents on an area of Burin village land on land slated for confiscation by a neighboring settlement.
Residents said the new village was established to protest Israeli land confiscation for settlement building. Burin is squeezed between the Bracha and Yitzhar settlements, and the target of regular settler violence.
They are calling the new encampment the "Al-Manatir neighborhood" after the traditional stone huts built for watchmen in Palestinian agricultural land.
Israeli forces immediately moved to shut down the area, and blocked traffic at the nearby Zaatara checkpoint, stopping several buses of activists destined for the village, witnesses told Ma'an.

Soldiers fired tear gas and sound grenades to disperse the activists.
Israeli forces have moved to evacuate the camps and dismantle their structures.
They evacuated the protest tent set up earlier on Saturday by Palestinian activists in Nablus, leading to clashes which injured at least 20 people and 3 get arrested one of them Ashraf abu rahma from bil'in.

Nabi Saleh

"Activists report that the weekly demonstration has started approximately 30 minutes ago and IOF immediately invaded village and have fired lots of teargas. A number of people have collapsed because of tear gas inhalation.
Manal reports: Think they are shooting gas includes nerve gas, 2 of the youth couldn't move after they smell some of it and we had to evacuate them. The same new breathing gas was tested two weeks ago instead of the usual tear gas.
The demonstration was quite short today, due to the pouring rain, which the soldiers tried to match with a rain of tear gas canisters. Several activists fainted from the gas, and one was hit by a canister in his waist. All are well now, though. We dried with tea and some fantastic Hubiza dish by the fireplace, enjoying the smell of wood, and the crackling fire, and wished for the days in which we could simply come and enjoy warmth, and food and the company of friends, and naught more. I guess that this, amongst other things, is what we are fighting for."

South of Hebron Hills

This week we will accompany Palestinians farmers and shepherds to their lands in several locations in South Hebron hills. Harassment of Palestinian farmers and shepherds in the area by both settlers and the army continues.

This coming Saturday, February 2, we need as many activists as possible to accompany them and stand up for their rights. There is a direct link between the number of activists who come to accompany the farmers and their ability to harvest and work their lands.

Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle intensify on the back ground of the intensifying of the harassments.

It was not just the coming Israeli elections that Israeli settler colonialism intensified. It is part of the trend of last years in which the efforts to expand the settler colonialist project increase - as if to exploit the last opportunity. It is done within the 1948 borders - mainly with transfer of the Bedouins of the south. It is done within the occupied east Jerusalem. It occur in the C areas mainly near colonialist settlements and more so in areas intended to be annexed to Israel. In response, the third Intifada collect momentum and the anarchists against the wall are invited more and more to locations of joint struggles. The general election revealed that a substantial section of the capitalist elite start to distance itself from the costly settler colonialist project... But, it seems more international pressure is needed for a significant change.

Bab Al-Karamah

Activists re-erect tents at Bab al-Karamah, Jan. 25, 2013.
Dozens of Palestinian activists entered a demolished protest village in northwest Jerusalem on Friday, starting to rebuild the al-Karamah (Dignity) encampment. The tent village was established last Friday to protest Israel's land confiscation and settlement building in the area of Beit Iksa. On Monday, Israeli troops demolished all the tents and evacuated all the activists in the camp. Activists entered the village on Friday and performed the weekly prayer, before re-erecting tents and planting olive trees, witnesses said. Beit Iksa, surrounded by Israeli settlements, is set to be entirely encircled by Israel's separation wall, cutting it off from Jerusalem. When completed, the wall will annex 96 percent of Beit Iksa's land, according to a study by the Applied Research Institute - Jerusalem. The Al-Karamah village was the second protest village set up, and torn down, this month. Earlier, activists established the Bab al-Shams village near East Jerusalem, in a protest against Israel's plans to build the "E1" settlement on the land, severing the West Bank from Jerusalem.

"....First Ni'lin, just before the checkpoint we encountered a promissory obstacle of spikes on the road, something we never came across it even when it was closed to bar the entry of leftists before large demonstrations in Bil'in. For a moment I feared ... At the booth was an officer, I opened the window and I turned to him impatiently as the settlers did not understand why interfere with their lives and I were doing something wrong? Why barrier down? The officer said that they only looked at the gate and immediately picked it up, I exhaled.
After the noon prayer, approximately 60 Palestinian, Israeli and internationals walked to the separation wall. First we walked and called shouting in Arabic and Hebrew against the occupation and theft of land, until we reached the gate of the separation wall, there some of us knocked on the iron gate and demanded that the soldiers open the gate so that people of Ni'lin be able to access their land. We have not received any response from the soldiers on the other side of the gate. Then we brought tires, placed them on the wall and ignited them. To this the soldiers did respond... with big quantity of tear gas. Some protesters bravely climbed the wall and tried to speak to the hearts of the soldiers. Some protesters threw Frisbees with Letter to the soldiers glued to the bottom."

Nabi Saleh

Friday, 18/12013 The weekly Friday demonstration in Nabi Saleh was held in the aftermath of an attempt by Halamish to expand the settlements earlier this week. Demonstrators march in solidarity with hunger striking political prisoners Samer 'Issawi and Ayman Sharawneh and chanted against the occupation and land theft. The Israeli occupation army responded with barrages with tear gas, rubber-coated steel bullets and skunk water. Three protesters were injured, including a 16 year old boy who was hit with a canister to his head. They were all treated at the scene.

During the weekly demonstration in Nabi Saleh, the IOF attempted to suppress the protest using putrid skunk water and barrages of rubber coated steel bullets and tear gas. Seven international and Israeli solidarity activists were arrested in the pretext of entering a 'closed military zone.' A few protesters were injured by rubber bullets, one of whom sustained an injury to his face and was taken to hospital for medical treatment. Dozens suffocated from the tear gas.

"Activists on the ground in Nabi Saleh are reporting that Israeli Occupation Forces have invaded the village and are shooting plastic bullets and teargas randomly! Skunk is also being sprayed at houses. One 16/17 year old boy has been hit directly in the head with a teargas canister. no updates as yet on his condition.

South West Bank Committee Protests on Friday 25.1.2013

Palestinian Protesters in the Settlers' Backyard

Today, 25.1.2013, at 10:30 AM the South West Bank Committee with international and Israeli activists and under the coverage of a large number of journalists, marched up to the gates leading to Elazar colony. Palestinians are barred from entering the illegal colony which sits on private Palestinian land. The large number of protesters, waving Palestinian flags and holding signs, stayed in front of the closed gate for about an hour. A settlers' bus and cars which attempted to enter the colony were blocked from entering by the participants and settlers found it impossible to enter the colony without having to make their way through the protesters and hear their calls. One settler shoved a protester and others attacked them verbally.
The protesters then proceeded to march along the apartheid road 60 which is under the control of the Occupation Authorities. By this time, four jeeps of the occupation army arrived, and the protesters were followed closely by occupation soldiers along the road. At several points the occupation soldiers became violent while protesters insisted that this was a peaceful march. Despite attempts by the forces to stop the march, the participants were determined to continue and marched on. Several Palestinian cars which passed by honked their horns in support while settlers who drove by cursed and verbally abused the peaceful protesters. Indeed, this was a rare moment as various settlers who drove by with cars and buses saw for the first time a Palestinian protest taking place right below their eyes.
Protesters then proceeded to march to the illegal colony of Neve Daniel. At this point a settler from the the illegal colony came out of the gated colony, took pictures of the protesters and pushed them. Protesters were then entirely surrounded by occupation soldiers who prevented further movement towards the colony. The participants remained steadfast and a after about an hour the protest ended as activists continued on to the weekly protest in al Maasara and Al Fawar refugee camp.

Al-Ma'sara

In al Maasara, Palestinian, Israeli and international protesters were surrounded by occupation soldiers who prevented their exit from the town to the nearby agricultural lands. Despite the occasional violence imposed by the occupation soldiers on the children who participated, the protesters continued to attempt to make their way through the many heavily armed soldiers surrounding them.

Al Fawar

In Al Fawar, protesters marched towards the block established in 2001 by the Israeli Occupation Forces at the entrance to the refugee camp. A huge number of occupation soldiers attacked the protesters physically and fired tear gas canisters on them. Despite this, protesters were determined in their efforts to open the block which restricts their movement. The protesters finally succeeded to break the gate open, but were not able to move the huge concrete blocks. The road was partially opened and the protesters made it clear that this road will be open in spite of the terror inflicted by the Israeli state.

South West Bank Committee

South Hebron Hills

Awake 06:15, on a Saturday morning, in order to go with Taayush to escort farmers in South Hebron Hills.
A police car led the way for our van for ten minutes. Then they stopped us and demanded our IDs, even though they had no ground for that. The police officer that came on the van said "Hey, I already recognize some of you." Then another officer explained that we are leftist activists so our purpose is to cause clashes. After warning some of us privately and all together, we were allowed to continue driving.

Palestine-Israel, The third Intifada collect momentum with clear contribution of the joint struggle*

Lot of the Israeli activists in the joint struggle with Palestinian popular initiative were skeptic about the contribution of the anarchist against the wall initiative. They fail to see its contribution to the recruiting and encouraging of the less radical Israelis to initiate and/or participate in joint actions with Palestinians. They fail to see the contribution and legitimizing the struggle in the world arena, they fail to see the contribution for publicity - both within the Israeli main streem media and the world (Fife Brocken Cameras nominee for oscar), and most of all the creation of a security net that prevent Israel from suppressing the popular struggle in a Bloodbath and mass arrest of the Palestinian activists. The later picks of Bab Al Shams (the Sun gate) camp in Jerusalem and Al-Karamah (Dignity) at Beit Iksa no one can ignore.

Beit Iksa

A village in northwest of Jerusalem - a region where joint actions with the anarchists against the wall occurred during the years took a new initiative: Activists build a new protest village on Friday Jan. 18, 2013. They set up three tents and a small building in the area near Beit Iksa, naming it: Al-Karamah (Dignity). Around 400 performed Friday a demonstration prayers in the open area. An activist from nearby village Beit Ijza, said the camp was "a message to Israel and all democratic societies that we are human, and we want peace." Activists from across the political spectrum, mainly from nearby villages, have gathered and planed to sleep in the tents overnight.

Beit Iksa, surrounded by Israeli settlements, is set to be entirely encircled by Israel's separation wall, cutting it off from Jerusalem. Israeli authorities ordered lately the confiscation of 500 dunams of the village's land three weeks ago, and do not permit any new building in the town, while Israeli settlements in the region were still expanding.

Israeli forces immediately shut down the military checkpoint at the entrance to Beit Iksa to prevent more activists and supporters from accessing the protest site, witnesses said.
The tented village Bab al-Shams, set up to protest Israel's plans to build the "E1" settlement on the land, severing the West Bank from Jerusalem started a new dimension in the Palestinian struggle and that more protest villages would be established. "Today in Beit Iksa, tomorrow in other areas."

"Occupation soldiers “visit” Gate of Dignity (Bab AlKarama) early morning, then close checkpoint, confrontations now going on. Media people and activists needed now on location and activists around the world can publicize.

It was too cold to sleep for most of us last night at the Gate of Dignity encampment and the army “visited” us early in the morning. Yesterday we had to overcome the Israeli checkpoint at the entrance of Beit Iksa but today the occupation forces closed the checkpoint and are attacking peaceful demonstrators with tear gas and stun grenades. Bilin

Friday weekly demonstration, Jan. 18, 2013. The demo was more lively than the previous Friday as we had with us the activists who went last Friday to Bab Al-Shams...
The state forces who used along the years the demonstrations against the wall and occupation in Bil'in as testing ground showered on us a new kind of gas which cause breathing problem to most participants.

South Hebron hills

"This Saturday morning, the Israeli army violently arrested 5 Israeli activists and 10 Palestinians in their privately owned lands the area of Qawais in South Hebron Hills. The arrests were carried out in order to prevent the Palestinian farmers from working their lands. Three of the women detainees are minors, among them a 2 year old.
Three Palestinians who were arrested in South Hebron hills yesterday, among them a mother to a baby and an elderly man, are still under arrest.

Due to the mass arrests, we were unable to accompany additional farmers who need our help to plow their lands. We need your help in accompany them tomorrow (Sunday). Besides being critical to the farmers livelihood, every season the lands are not plowed increases the chance of their being taken over by the occupation forces or settlers.

Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle escalate to a higher level in spite of skeptics*

Bab Al Shams (the gate of the Sun) is a one step higher of the non-armed direct actions the joint comity of the villages popular comities involved in. The political parties that marginally support the struggle failed to co-opt it so far. The creativity of the joint comity rouse to an higher level in this action, forcing the Israeli state to disregard its pretension of law and order, and acted against its own higher court and destroyed the camp. The world media was "recruited" again to promote the non violent struggle against the occupation. In each village where weekly demos are done, few of the activist were left behind to keep the joint struggle going.

Bab Al Shams

Popular Comities project. Dozens of Palestinians established on Friday an outpost in E1 between Jerusalem a Maale Edomim and did "Not left the area". The activists, who brought with them equipment and established long stay 25 tents, have stated that they intend to expand the permanent settlement: "we will hold this village stubbornly".

"Hundreds of Palestinians have established this morning (Friday) outpost in E1 , which they call the "Bab al-Shams" (Sun Gate). The activists, who brought with them equipment, long stay, established 25 permanent tents and said that they intended to expand the initial settlement and turn it into a permanent settlement. Police force came to the area but have not yet decided what to do activists staying there."

"Abdullah Abu Rahma, a prominent figure Palestinian struggle, said the call for the establishment of the outpost began more than a month ago, particularly among Palestinians in the neighborhoods and communities whose lands are at risk of expropriation for the construction of new settlements. Among the others there were involved activists from Hattori, Issawiya, Abu Dis, and Anata Alaizrih.
One of the organizers, Mohammed Khatib, said: "It is a symbolic act, but a response to the intended Israeli settlement. We send a message to the international community to take immediate action to stop the settlement of Israel."

With the establishment of the tents, the group gave the following statement: "We, the sons and daughters of Palestine, announce the establishment of the village of Bab al-Shams (Gate of the Sun), by order of the people, without a permit from the occupation, without asked permission from anyone, that this land is our land and the it is our right to build."

The name of the Palestinian outpost in E1 taken from the novel "Bab al-Shams" authored by Elias Khoury. The book describes the story of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon after the 1948 War.

It also said in a statement that "we build the village as we can no longer remain silent on the continued construction of settlements and the theft of our land, and we believe direct action and popular resistance will achieving our goals. We are committed to hold this village stubbornly, not leaving it, until the Palestinians will regain full ownership rights on This land. "

According to the activists, "for decades, the governments of Israel would created facts on the ground, while the international community continued to be silent. It is time to change the rules of the game. Now we are determining the facts on the ground, the land of ours. Action, in which participated women and men from north and the south, organized by the popular committees. In the coming days we will hold here workshops and discussions, cultural events and art, as well as film screenings." http://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/150646_485634661479105_1676409323_n.jpg

Palestinian Village of Bab Al-Shams Remains Steadfast. In the face of blatant eviction threats by Netanyahu and under Israeli army siege, the village of Bab Al shams continues to stand boldly.

Saturday

Israeli army and police have been laying siege to the newly founded Palestinian village of Bab Al shams since earlier today, blocking all roads leading to it. The area has been declared a closed military zone. The village was inaugurated yesterday on Palestinian land, East of Jerusalem, in an area referred to by Israel as E1, and designated for the expansion of Ma’ale Edomim settlement.

Despite the siege, roughly a hundred supporters from across Palestine managed to reach the village, trekking through rocky terrain. Earlier today, Abdallah Abu Rahmah of the Popular Struggle Coordination Committee said, "Israel has been defying international law for decades by building illegal settlements on stolen land and demolishing Palestinian homes. We are here to say that Israeli impunity must end. We have the right to build and live on our own land”.

This morning the residents of the village where notified by Israeli police that they will be evicted despite an injunction issued by the Israeli High Court, prohibiting demolition of the village for six days. The officers informed residents that the injunction only forbids the removal of village structures, not their inhabitants. Despite this statement, Israeli government has appealed to the court to revoke the injunction. As growing numbers of Israeli forces amass in the vicinity of the village, seemingly preparing to carry out an eviction, the residents of Bab Al shams stand firm in their resolution to hold on to the land.

Meanwhile, Israeli soldiers prevented Palestinian legislators Hannan Ashrawi, Saeb Arekat and Ahmed Majdalani from reaching the village and confiscated Majdalani's VIP card.
Famed Lebanese writer, Elias Khury, author of the epic novel Bab Al shams after which the village is named, phoned the residents earlier today to express his support. "You have revived Bab Al-Shams", he said, "I wish I were there with you."

On Sunday, at 3am, About 500 Israeli Forces started the evacuation. "Israeli security forces evacuate activists from Palestinian tent outpost in E-1 area

Nabi Saleh

During the weekly demonstration in Nabi Saleh, the IOF attempted to suppress the protest using putrid skunk water and barrages of rubber coated steel bullets and tear gas just as the demonstration started.
"We tried to reach the spring but IOF attacked us and we had a long argument with them then they began to hit us with their guns". Activists report that the demo in Nabi Saleh while small this week (due to the weather) was very energetic.
Seven solidarity activists (international and Israeli with the anarchists against the wall) were arrested in the pretext of entering a 'closed military zone.' A few protesters were injured by rubber bullets, one of whom (Mutaz Tamimi) sustained an injury to his face and was taken to hospital for medical treatment after a long delay as the Zionist soldiers forbid the ambulance from approaching the area to treat him. Dozens suffocated from the tear gas.

Arrestees:
L. R. updates: "the Israeli police is deliberately holding the 5 Israeli and 2 internationals activists detainees from Nabi Saleh Friday demo outside in the freezing cold, no doubt as some form of punishment for supporting Palestinians.
The occupation forces let go the last one of us around midnight. I was released into a very cold night, but warm hugs, and juice and falafel. It was cold (especially in the long hours in which we were held outside), and long (especially after they'd let everyone else out, and I sat there on my own, wondering whether I might be the only one spending the night) and boring (I read most of the Friday issue of Israel Today, solved a word puzzle with Michal and read half of Camus, the Plague), but it was a relatively easy arrest and I think we're all more or less fine. The Israelis amongst us got a two weeks restraining order from Nabi Saleh. The internationals are summoned to the airport on Sunday, and we hold our fingers crossed hoping that they won't be deported. Thanks so much to all of you who supported from outside, and no less to those who supported from the inside.

Palestinian activists claim the use by the Israeli security forces of a foul-smelling liquid, dubbed “the skunk”, against protesters and, in some instances, private homes, may be putting lives at risk.
Last Friday, January 4th, Israeli border police directed the skunk at the home of the Tamimi family in the Israeli-occupied West Bank village of Nabi Saleh, following the weekly protest against Israeli land confiscation.
A photographer recorded an Israeli tanker spewing the putrid liquid over the home of a Palestinian family. A border police spokesman, Supt Shai Hakimi, told The Irish Times that the spray was aimed at Palestinian stone-throwers on the roof of the building.

However, no such individuals can be seen in the photograph.

“The Israeli forces have targeted my home in Nabi Saleh dozens of times. On one occasion the powerful jet spray broke a window and also the television which was next to my seven-year-old son. The chemicals in the skunk destroy the furniture and no amount of cleaning can get rid of the stench.”

The comments by the border police spokesman were challenged by Haim Schwarczenberg, the Israeli photographer who witnessed the incident.

“There were no stone-throwing youths on the roof of the house that I saw,” he told The Irish Times last night. “This is not the first time this skunk liquid has been sprayed on people’s homes and not the first time I have witnessed how the Israeli authorities collectively punish the people of this village.”

The residents of Nabi Saleh, a small village of less than 600 residents, north west of Ramallah, have hosted weekly protests for almost four years against land confiscation by the nearby Jewish settlement of Halamish.

Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle* on the last track of an 131 years settler colonialist Zionism.

Interwoven with the western imperial interests in the region, the nationalist-socialists Zionists initiated the immigration of nationalist Jews to Palestine. It interwove with the Ottoman-German-British-US dynamics and gradually collected momentum. As one of the last islands remained from the colonial era (mainly because it involved big settlers community and serving a strategic interests), its time is running out.... and faster since the "Arab Spring". Sensing the end, the die-hard leadership of the Zionist settler colonialists - in a last desperate effort continue as the end is not in sight and even increase its onslaught with diminishing restrain. On the back ground of this month election, the onslaught is collecting momentum last weeks - as if the third Intifada is what the Israeli elite want. The popular struggle collect momentum and more so in the weekends.

"Heading to #Bilin to commemorate two years to the death to the killing of Jawaher Abu Rahmeh. On the day Jawaher was killed the army bombed us with crazy amounts of tear gas, which suffocated Jawaher to death. No one was charged, no one was tried for the killing of this woman, just another Palestinian protester killed by the only democracy in the Middle East".
Israeli forces already shooting tear gas, sound bombs and skunk water at Palestinian, Israeli and International activists.

This Friday demonstration in Bil'in commemorated the killing of Jawaher Abu Rahmah by overexposure to army tear two years ago. Before the march even began, soldiers crossed the wall, and in an act of state sponsored bullying and terror set fire to an agricultural warehouse near the wall. While protesters were marching with Fatah, PFLP and Mubadra flags, fire fighters were extinguishing the fire and preventing it from spreading to the olive groves and the adjacent Abu Lamun oak tree reservation. The protesters gathered away from the wall, and while speeches were made, some children advanced to taunt the soldiers, suffering showers of skunk water. Later on protesters marched forward, and in a series of well orchestrated maneuvers that included some strategic stone throwing, managed to set ladders against the wall, climb them, and post Palestinian flags on the wall under constant showers of tear gas, stun grenades and rubber bullets.

Nabi Saleh

Protesters marched from Martyrs Square at the village's center towards the main road when they were attacked by Border Patrol soldiers with tear gas and massive amounts of rubber bullets as well as putrid skunk water. Later on, the soldiers invaded the village, spraying skunk water all over residential homes, then proceeded to storm several houses and arrest activists. One Palestinian activist was brutally beaten before dragged away by the soldiers, who also refused a medic to examine him. At least two more Israeli activists were also arrested. Before retreating towards the main entrance of the village, the soldiers continue to shoot local youths, using rubber bullets and a few rounds of live ammunition.

Activists report that the IOF are also firing large amounts of teargas and sprayed skunk directly at homes, as well as firing rubber coated steel bullets.

Jerusalem - Al-Kuds

The popular committee of Issawia (occupied east Jerusalem) invites supporters to join them in their protest against police violence and the seizure of their lands.
Meeting place: the gas station in the entry to Issawia, this Friday at 12:30
From Issawia to Sheikh Jarrah 4.1.2013
Around 60 activists, Jews and Palestinians, participated in a solidarity visit in Issawiya, which has been targeted by violent attacks by the Israeli occupation.

Mohammad Abu Hummus: "They want us to lower our heads, they want us to give up, but that won't happen. Our children have been shot at with tear gas during their classes, inside the school. We told the Jerusalem municipality: Where have we come to, what's happening to our children, who are besieged by fear? The police tells us that it's an "operation".
What is an "operation"? To force a community to accept the loss of their lands, with a strangulating planning regime, to force it to stop protesting to release the political prisoner Samer Issawi from administrative detention. Terrorizing an entire population - that is what they call an "operation."

Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle continue on the background of the mounting tension*

Less than three weeks to the Israeli election the settler colonialists rise the level of belligerence with state forces restraining... the Palestinians and increasing harassments. The international imperial power refrain from restraining Israel waiting for the after election era. The Palestinian elite "holding its breath" and restraining the unarmed third Intifada it criticize in the open. The approaching international pressure - both formal and non formal make the Israeli elite very uneasy like a person who ride a tiger and fear for his life thinking what will happen when he will be down. The popular struggles and the confrontation with the occupation forces is expanding gradually to more locations than the long term joint struggles.

Al-Arkib

On the back ground of the continuous struggle of the Israeli Bedouins against the final confiscation of their open lands focused in the Al-Arkib village, the Israeli supreme court verdict was that the Bedouin can contest in court the formal confiscation of their lands by Israeli tailored laws and regulations.

Nabi Salih - 28/12/2012

Even the Israeli media could not ignore the brave people and children of Nabi Saleh in their joint struggle with internationals and the Israeli anarchists against the wall in the persistent struggle against the encroachment of the colonialist settlers of the rear by Halamish and occupation forces. On the occasion of the honor bestowed on a young teen age girl of the village, videos of the ceremony and her confrontations with Israeli soldiers were screened time and again in the Israeli TV channels.

During the weekly Friday demonstration in the village of Nabi Saleh, protesters carried a Christmas tree decorated with tear gas canisters and sang occupation-themed carols. Palestinian, international and Israeli activists then proceeded to march on the road towards the village's main entrance when the Israeli army attacked demonstrators with barrages of tear gas, rubber bullets and skunk water. The onslaught carried on for several hours, during which a few protesters were injured by rubber bullets and were treated by medics at the scene. Several others suffocated from tear gas.

Dear friends
We have finished our demonstration this Friday.
Despite of the tenths of tear gas bombs which was shot by the army but no injured people or arrests. Nearly 600 share this demonstration under the slogan of refusing the siege imposed on the Palestinian people by the Israeli government.

Susya

Wednesday, December 26th 2012, occupation forces blocked one of the main roads leading to Yatta and Samo’a - the one connecting them to the area of Susya.
The road was blocked next to a military base located in Susya, by a “betonada” concrete barrier. This is a key route used by many local residents and the shortest, fastest way to get to the Yatta hospital. It's also used children and teachers to get to the schools.
